Entry Eleven: Winners

Congratulations to the Iolani Boys Division II Football team for bringing home another state championship. Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Physics: Quarterback Jarrett Arakawa #12 is on the sidelines throwing a football. If the earth had no air, the only force acting on the ball would be gravity, directed downwards, or in this case radially inwards to the earth. If the ball has a mass of 1 kg (kind of heavy), and it travels at a speed of √ (GM/R), where G is the constant used in Newton's Universal Law of Gravitation, M is the mass of the earth, and R is the radius of the ball's parabolic path, it will go into orbit, its parabolic path matching the curvature of the earth and never touch the ground. Hmm . . .

Go Raiders! Whoo! Alright that's enough out of you. Ok.
